Biography

Marion Gambin (b.1985) is a photographer working between Paris
and Marseille, where she has been living since 2020.

A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière
and the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, she has been practising
documentary-inspired photography for over ten years, with a focus
on portraiture. Her work has been noticed by several prestigious prizes
and is regularly exhibited in France and internationally.

Through site-specific artist residencies, she continues to explore the
world through the eyes of those who inhabit it. From her training in
Fine Arts, she has retained a love of materials, creating artist books
as extensions of her photographic narratives.

As a recipient of a Fondation de France grant, she took part in the
photographic mission France(s) territoire liquide with the series
Entre-deux lieux, which looked at France’s motorways. Exhibited as
part of Paris Photo, her carte blanche at the iconic La Samaritaine
department store overlooking the Seine marked a shift in her work
towards mise-en-scène, whilst retaining her comical yet poetic, and
sometimes absurd language.

Marion Gambin also puts her talents to work for various institutions and
brands, and regularly shoots portraits for the press.
